***?Please note: this puppy is required to go to a home with another confident dog. No Exceptions!***

Dear Potential Adopter,

My name is Duncan and I am a super cute, fluffy, playful Shepherd/Collie mix pup. I am about 3 1/2 months now and weigh 20lbs. As adorable as I look, I do have some quirks (don't we all), so my Adoption Coordinator is working hard to find me the right home. Right now, my best friends are foster Mommy, Godiva (8 yr old Aussie mix), Willy (4 yr old Ret. Mix), and Puff Daddy, the cat. They all are helping me learn that new situations and new people are ok. Spending time in the shelter as a young pup did a number on my confidence.

I will do best in a home with another playful and confident dog, a puppy friendly schedule, patience and kindness too. I have a lot of puppy energy and LOVE to be outside, so a fenced yard is a must, as well. I am learning how to ring a bell when I want to go outside. Did I forget to mention how very smart I am??!! I am also very food motivated, which will help with my training and continued socialization. I am doing well with crate training too. I do tend to like to jump and put my paws up on people, so young children and people who might not be steady on their feet, wont be a good fit as I will probably knock them over in my exuberance. Being part shepherd, I can also use my voice to communicate things. After spending time with me, you will know my language.

Because I am so darn handsome, I receive a number of applications. Sadly, many of the nice families who have applied for me are missing one of my important adoption criteria. They could be great adopters for another dog, but just not the right fit for me. The terrific volunteers at PetConnect Rescue want to find me a forever home where it will be a successful adoption placement, all are happy and I can thrive.

I know that my family is out there, so let's team up and find them.

Love and puppy kisses,

Duncan

Because Duncan is a baby, he'll require adopters who are home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions!  They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be spayed/neutered at the age of 6 months.

Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town-homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many!

***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ) , spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.***
